Grilled Pork Chops with Barbecue Sauce

This recipe reminds me of simple, but delicious comfort food....

4 pork loin chops

Ingredients for B-B-Q Sauce:

2 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 medium onion finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
Juice of 1 lemon
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1/2 cup spicy Ketchup
2 tbsp. Worchestershire sauce
Hot sauce like Tapatio to taste

First, make the sauce:  heat the oil in a frying pan and saute the onion and garlic for a few minutes until soft and lightly browned.  Grate the zest from the lemon and squeeze the lemon.  Add the lemon zest, about 1/2 the lemon juice, sugar, vinegar, ketchup, Worchestershire sauce and hot sauce.
Mix all ingredients together and simmer for a few minutes.

To grill:  First, season the pork chops with salt and pepper, then brush chops with the cooled barbeque sauce.  Grill and baste frequently for about 5 to 7 minutes.  Turn and continue the same process for the other side.
