Good food, Free food, No food

So with moving into a new year, there is always hope that our schools will "see the light at the end of the tunnel" and begin providing wholesome and healthy meals to our kids.  It looks like it may take longer than we thought...In the Los Angeles Times Saturday, January 1, 2011 issue on the front page no less, I read this article on "Charter choices: good food, free food, no food" which essentially states that some campuses lack the means to provide nutritious meals or any meals for that matter to our kids.  But isn't the goal of a successful charter school supposed to be to gather their most motivated community leaders and interested parents to create a great learning experience for their kids with the right tools and learning conditions?  Nutritious foods should be at the top of the list by the way.  These are some important things to look into as this deals with the future of...well the next generation.....
