Nutrition Action: 9 Basic Best Foods to Eat

It has been awhile since I've posted. Apologies, I was away on a short vacation. But, during that time, I would have to say that sometimes you need to "unplug" from your regular life and see what you come up with "eating-wise" when you are away from home.

By in large, I was pretty good, but in reviewing the following 9 basic good foods to eat, it reminded me that it really is not that hard to "get back on the horse". You just need to want to do it, wouldn't you agree?

So, here are your 9 foods:

1) Cantaloupe: Just a small portion of this fruit provides you enough vitamins A & C to last throughout the day.

2) Sweet Potatoes: So delicious and easy to prepare! These potatoes have a ton of great vitamin C, potassium for a healthy heart beat, muscle movement and great nerve balance and fiber.

3) Fat-free (skim) or Low-Fat Milk is a great source of calcium, vitamins and little to no saturated fat.

4) Oranges are not only delicious, but they have vitamin C, folate for healthy cell repair and boosting immunity...don't forget the fiber too!

5) Broccoli contains folate, carotenoids and vitamin C. In their role as antioxidants, carotenoids are a rich addition to what Broccoli contains.

6) Whole-grain Bread. Of course, this may not be suitable for everyone -- particularly those that have  Celiac's Disease or are wheat intolerant, but if you don't fall under either of those two categories, this bread contains fiber, vitamins and minerals.

7) Watermelon: Now that we are close to summer, watermelon is a great choice as it is full of antioxidants and vitamin C.

8) Beans are low in fat, high in protein, iron, folate and fiber.

9) Lastly, both Spinach and Kale provide a great source of vitamin C, fiber, calcium and carotenoids.
